The PMP® certification is a professional experience-based certification. Experience leading and directing projects is critical to a PMP® candidate’s success. Training alone is not sufficient to pass the exam.
The authorized training materials were developed by experts familiar with the exam content outline but these individuals did NOT participate in developing the PMP® exam.
Key Changes for the 2026 PMP Exam:
- New Domain Weightings: The 2026 exam dramatically increases the focus on business environment (26% of questions).
- Business Environment: 26% (previously 8%)
- People: 33% (decreased from 42%)
- Process: 41% (decreased from 50%)
- PMBOK 8th Edition Integration: The exam aligns with the new PMBOK 8, which features 6 core principles and 40 processes (down from 49) to blend agile and predictive approaches.
- Expanded Content: The exam now heavily features AI-driven decision-making, sustainability in project management, and increased emphasis on stakeholder engagement.
- New Question Types: Expect 185 total questions over 240 minutes, including matching, hotspots, and pull-down lists, with a 50/50 split between predictive and agile/hybrid methods.
Key PMP Exam Preparation Considerations & Exam Requirements:
- Current Exam: Candidates taking the exam before July 9, 2026, should continue to use the current study materials.
- Experience Requirements: Candidates now need to show project experience within the last 10 years (extended from 8 years).
